Affording Your Fashion Trends
You do not always have
to buy from a high-end store in order to get the newest trends. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2015, “The U.S.
apparel industry today is a $12 billion business and the average American
family spends $1,700 on clothes annually” (Forbes). That is a lot of money if
you think about it. There are many other options; you just have to put
some time and effort into your shopping.
Don’t we all love sales?
Especially when it is for a particular product that we have been looking for. One
of the biggest ways shoppers can save money is by paying attention to sales and
clearance items online. For example, as mentioned in the previous post, the
wide leg fad at H&M costs $49.99 (hm). But if you did some research, you can buy the
same trend at JCPenney for $13.99, which is on sale and at a lower-end brand (jcpenney). Remember readers, looking online is a great way
to find deals so you can save money and buy more of your favorite brands.
Another great money
saving option is to be on the lookout for large online sales that businesses
will use to promote their brands. For example, Forever 21 has deals that allow
shoppers to take 75% off top-of-sale items as an online exclusive (milled). This promotion would
be a great way for shoppers to get the items they are looking for at a
discounted rate.
You can also utilize certain stores like Target or K-Mart to find great brand name clothing for much lower prices. You know we all browse in the clearance section from time to time. Some stores like T.J. Maxx and Ross puts items on sale because overstock happens (mentalfloss). Many of the items on clearance are in style but have flaws like “tag sewn upside-down or two pant legs with different inseams.”
“Apply now and be a member for free!” Well, that is what you should do. Many retailers allow you to become a member, which provides you with certain exclusives. They get a little personal information as well as cheap advertisement for their sales, which gives them more sales. I get emails from Charlotte Russe promoting 20% off my next purchase. What stores do you get emails from? The next time you are shopping online look for a membership that you can join.
