Welcome!

Hi everyone! I am Melody, and I have been at Santa Monica College for two years. I am majoring in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting. I will hopefully graduate Santa Monica College with an Associate's degree in Business Administration. I am writing about fashion to inform shoppers, help them find bargains, and teach people about fads. In the next two posts, I will be focusing on how clothing companies use celebrities to affect the fashion trends and ways in which you can find trends at a cheaper price.

Growing up, I did not pay attention to what others were wearing; I was only interested in my own style of clothing. As I got older, I began working and had extra money to spend on clothes. I would go to the mall with my friends and come home to my parents yelling at me for spending too much money. I realized that I needed to stop spending money on clothes, or at least find ways to reduce the amount I was spending on fashion. This led me to my career goals of being an accountant for the fashion industry.

Accounting in a fashion industry? Yes, that is my future goal in life because whether you realize it or not, accounting is everywhere. In a clothing company, an accountant keeps track of the profits and records the inventory. As trends change, an item that was profitable at one time may not be profitable later as it decreases in popularity.

As customers, we are tempted by the latest trends thanks to advertisements featuring the hottest celebrities. The mindset that we have is that if a celebrity is following the trend, then we should follow it too. These trends are expensive, but there are different ways to still be in style and save money. In next post I will talk about how clothing companies use celebrities to affect the fashion trends.

I hope you enjoy the next few blogs and get some insight into the business world of fashion. Do not be afraid to leave any comments, questions, or concerns. Feel free to let me know any ideas that you would like me to post.
